Chameleon Sequence Finder is a tool to retrive a small peptide fragment sequence from a collection of PDB sequences.
Given a short peptide sequence or a pattern, all occurrences of this sequence in the PDB will be provided. The location and position of the occurrences are shown in the form of PDB id, chain and position along the PDB sequence.
Chameleon Sequence Finder can also query peptide fragments using Perl style regular expressions and make the query more flexible. One can also input PROSITE patterns, StEQ will convert PROSITE pattern to regular expression. Actually, if one prefer, StEQ will also take PROSITE accession numbers and fetch the pattern for the user.
Using AVLAE is simple, just type the short peptide sequence you want to query in the "Query" field on top of the page. You can then press the "go!" button to perform the query.
Users can also check the structure of this peptide fragment in the PDB file. Chime plug-in for browsers should be installed. You may download Chime from MDL Information System Inc.
